Hannah le Roux is an architect, educator and theorist.Her research covers the consequences of extractive projects on architecture, urbanism and landscapes, with a focus on post-colonial Africa, South Africa, and South Yorkshire. In these contexts, the resistant agency of everyday use can inspire contemporary reparative design.She is a visiting Associate Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand and the Principal Investigator on the MineLives project with TU Delft. From 2022-2023 she was Guest Professor at the gta, ETH Zurich and a Senior Fellow at Collegium Helveticum. She is the Area Editor for Africa for the Bloomsbury Global Encyclopaedia of Women in Architecture, 1960-2020.
