Choosing to study in the UK, is one of the most important decisions you can make. To support this decision, some students consider using the services of an education agent when applying to us.

Education agents provide a range of services to support you, from identifying the right university and course to guiding you through the application and enrolment process. They can also assist with visa applications, travel, and accommodation arrangements.

Carefully selected and thoroughly trained, our official University of Sheffield representatives are experts on our courses and entry requirements, and can also tell you more about the city and campus life. They can guide you through the application process and help you make an informed decision about your studies.

Choosing the right agent

If you are considering using an education agent, we strongly recommend reading the — an important part of the UK Agent Quality Framework (AQF). This guide helps you and your family:

• Know which questions to ask education agents
• Spot signs of high-quality guidance
• Avoid poor or unethical practices
• Access the ‘national code of ethical practice for UK education agents’ and the British Council’s UK database of certified counsellors.

Please note that you should only work with one representative on your application to Sheffield. If you experience problems with your nominated agent and you are unable to resolve the matter, or you want to change your nominated agent, please contact us through our prospective student enquiry form.

Fees and commissions

51²è¹Ý¶ù pays a commission to our official agents if you register with us after using their services. Using an agent does not affect your chances of being accepted onto one of our courses.

Some agents charge students a counselling fee. Always clarify all costs with your agent in advance. You should also make sure your agent is authorised to represent us. Our agents sometimes work with other agents (often referred to as sub-agents). We do not have contracts with sub-agents and cannot offer them the same level of assistance.

You should always pay any deposit or tuition fee payments directly to the University. Never pay fees to, or through, an agent.
