- Profile
-
I joined the University of Sheffield in 2013 as a University Teacher in Health Services Research, moving into academia from clinical practice and public health. Currently, I serve as the Deputy Director of Education (Student Experience) for the Faculty of Health, where I lead initiatives to improve the student experience across our schools. Alongside my faculty-level role, I am the Deputy Programme Lead for the Master of Public Health (MPH).
My academic career began at the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa, where I earned both my BSc in Physiotherapy and my MPH. While at UCT, I worked as a researcher within the Women’s Health Research Unit and taught on the MPH programme, later managing research operations for a South African non-profit organisation.
After relocating to the UK, I completed my PhD at the University of Sheffield. Funded by the NIHR CLAHRC, my doctoral research used mixed methods to explore migrants’ utilisation of paediatric emergency departments in the North of England. Today, my work involves active teaching, pedagogical research and education leadership.
