Demetris obtained an MSci(Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham in 2013. Following this, he moved to Nanoco Technologies working on the development of cadmium-free quantum dots for display applications. During this time, he was involved in process scale-up, production and technology transfer to pilot plant scale.
In 2016, Demetris began his doctoral studies under Dr Craig Robertson at the University of Liverpool, researching heterocyclic radicals and the control of their magnetic and electronic properties via light, temperature and pressure.
Demetris then joined the Molecular Photonic Breadboards project at the University of Sheffield in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. His current research interests include: the synthesis of chromophores for the production of functionalised plasmonic surfaces exhibiting strong-coupling, multi-chromophore/plasmon interactions and the production of dye/peptide materials as antenna complexes.
