Research

The clinical academics have interests in lung inflammation, immunity, pulmonary vascular disease and lung imaging. There are active NHS research groups working in the Trust’s  including research in 

  • Pulmonary hypertension (Professor David Kiely, Professor Robin Condliffe)
  • Asthma and CF (Dr Martin Wildman)
  • Interstitial lung disease (Dr Steve Bianchi, Dr Nick Weatherley)
  • Sleep medicine (Dr Sriram Iyer)
  • Pleural disease (Dr Duneesha de Fonseka)
  • Bronchiectasis (Dr Hani Abo-Leyah)

Facilities

We have high quality laboratory facilities within the Division of Clinical Medicine and the , and we work closely with other departments. There are strong collaborations with the world-leading  imaging programmes led by Professor Jim Wild, which study the imaging of the heart, lungs and airways. We also collaborate widely with the infectious diseases team and .
