  1. Looking for solutions

“Sheffield graduates are curious, which is an essential quality. If you’re coming into the civil service, it’s important to have an open mind, be engaged and want to find solutions and Sheffield graduates are really interested in the policy questions that we are looking at.

  2. Making a difference

“Sheffield graduates bring a real drive to make a difference. They are committed to achieving change within the workplace.

  3. Delivering a wider impact

“Finally, they bring a sense of public value. People don’t typically join the civil service just for the money, it’s about having a wider impact on the country and improving things. For the Department for Education particularly, it’s about improving outcomes for young people.

Providing workplace-ready talent

“We have the partnership between the University of Sheffield and the Sheffield Policy Campus, which has all of the government presence in Sheffield, and the biggest policy presence for the government outside of London. We do a lot to support graduate recruitment from the university into the Policy Campus.

“I think these graduates can lead you to think in a different way. There is an enthusiasm and positive energy that 51²è¹Ý¶ù students can bring. We find that students who come in from Sheffield are really good and they’re ready for work.â€
