Heritage Circle Lunch 2026
Event details
-
Friday 6 November 2026 - 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Description
The Heritage Circle recognises the generous commitment of those wanting to leave a lasting legacy by making a gift in their Will to the University of Sheffield.
This special event is our opportunity to say thank you for your continued support.
There will be a behind-the-scenes look at the University's latest developments from senior staff. During lunch, you’ll hear about two exciting projects that are making an impact in very different ways.
- The Trojan horse against cancer: How bacteria could transform treatment
Imagine using tiny, naturally magnetic bacteria as "Trojan horses" to carry medicines deep inside cancers that are difficult to reach. This talk from Professor Munitta Munthana explores how researchers are turning these remarkable microbes into miniature delivery vehicles, with the aim of making cancer treatments more precise, more effective, and kinder to patients.
- BRIDGES for Dementia: Rethinking how technology can help people with dementia live independent lives
Hear from Senior Research Fellow Dr Jennifer MacRitchie about how the is shifting the research paradigm and helping people live well post-diagnosis. This talk will explore how we are connecting people with dementia and researchers together so that technology doesn't pre-define what a person can or cannot do.
If you're thinking of leaving a donation in your Will, or have already pledged, and haven't received an invitation please contact Dave Meadows at d.meadows@sheffield.ac.uk or call 0114 222 1073.
